The obvious first choice for my camera excursion was dowtown Winston-Salem. I have always loved the old Tobacco warehouses, they have such a sense of intrique, history and ominous presence. I wonder what they were like in their hay-day, all the hustle and bustle that must have surrounded them and the excitement. And now they sit there, waiting to be turned into Condos or for a fire to burn them down. Does anyone else remember the fire that ravaged downtown in 1998? It tore apart 2 blocks of empty RJR Tobacco warehouse and the smoke could be seen for up to 10 miles away. And then, of course, I had to have the obligatory cloud photograph. I feel as though no photo exploration is complete without one. If you like pictures of clouds, you should check out Alfred Stieglitz "Equivalents." **click images to enlarge
